Haunold killed the bear, saved the people of the village.
So this is where it all began — Haunold Mountain in San Candido northern Italy on the border of Austria. Owners of Wills Domain, the Haunold family, found out that, as legend has it, a dangerous bear lived at the foot of this mountain and it threatened the village. A man named Haunold killed the bear, saved the people of the village and in his honor they named the mountain after him. It’s in our DNA to be drawn to beautiful landscapes.
