Introducing our new hospitality manager Katie Fendick

Announcing…our new Hospitality Manager

We are thrilled to welcome Katie Fendick to our Wills Domain team as hospitality manager.

Katie’s role will be managing all facets of the front of house ensuring the customer experience for all of our guests is the best it can be.

She comes to us with a wealth of experience in high-end restaurants in San Francisco –  including the Michelin-starred Michael Mina Restaurant – and has been described as passionate, motivated and having an innate ability to read her guests.

A former employer described Katie as “driven by her love of food and wine in tandem with her passion to spread that love to not only her guests but her team.”

Although she grew up in Sacramento, California and spent the past seven years living and working in San Francisco she has always had a connection with Western Australia as her stepfather was born in Geraldton.

Since she was a child, Katie has spent many summers on the beaches in Margaret River and Gracetown and has always considered it a home away from home.

“I recently visited my parents living in Margaret River on holiday after opening a restaurant in San Francisco and just never left,” she said. “I have always been deeply in love with the Margaret River region and pace of life, learning more about the provenance of local ingredients and the wines. I love the Australian focus on local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients even in the smallest casual restaurants, something that I wish would spread to San Francisco and the States. Food just tastes better here!

“And then I was blessed to find a job with Wills Domain. I had been itching to get back to my true passion in fine dining and degustation menus after taking a break to develop more casual concepts. I have been a patron of Wills Domain for a few years and have always held it in the highest regard. It’s crazy to me that I now have the opportunity to contribute to the team that formed the basis for my love of Modern Australian cuisine.”

Along with a background in graphic design and love of painting, Katie’s passions outside of work are in travel and wine. She pursued her Certified Sommelier pin from the Court of Master Sommeliers because she wanted to know more about wine, but is now able to incorporate that knowledge into her work.

Wills Domain owner Darren Haunold said he was excited to have such a qualified professional join the team: “Katie is very intelligent, has loads of experience in high-end restaurants and is very thorough in how she operates, we look forward to having her on board.”
