Our Story

Wills Domain

We have wine in our blood. Wills Domain is home to the Haunold family, father to son vignerons since 1383. Our heritage is Austrian and we now call 60 hectares in Western Australia’s renown Margaret River wine region home, and multi-generational family member Darren Haunold at the reins.

Our first vines were planted in 1985, and 16 years ago we established the Wills Domain brand. Since that time, Wills Domain has earned a reputation for providing some of the best wine and fine dining in the South West.

Our Location

Wills Domain enjoys an enviable location situated in the Gunyulgup Valley, Yallingup, which is at the northern end of the Margaret River wine region. Our restaurant and cellar door overlook rolling vine-covered hills, valleys and paddocks with glimpses of the Indian Ocean - the perfect view for a laid-back long lunch or private event.

Our Team

The success of Wills Domain is thanks to the combined talent, experience and effort of Managing Director Darren Haunold, winemaker Richard Rowe, vineyard manager Ernie Lepidi and the Wills Domain family.

  • Darren Haunold

    Wills Domain is led by Darren Haunold, whose endless enthusiasm for the wine industry, passion for winemaking and entrepreneurial flair have seen Wills Domain grow from strength to strength each year. He characterises the brand and continues to inspire his hand-picked team.

  • Richard Rowe

    Richard has over 35 years of winemaking experience, and has worked in most premium wine regions in Australia. Internationally he has completed vintages in France, Germany and South Africa.

    Richard first came to Margaret River in 2003, as Chief Winemaker for Evans & Tate, where he oversaw a transformation of winemaking quality and style, winning many Wine Show awards both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining Evans & Tate, he spent 13 years in the Clare Valley, South Australia with Leasingham Wines & Kirrihill Wines.

  • Ernie Lepidi

    Ernie has cared for our vines for more than 10 years of his 30-year career. His dedication and effort allow Wills Domain to reach consistently high qualities. Ernie's tireless efforts rain, hail and shine allow Bruce to make wines which are real expressions of fruit grown in Yallingup and are true to Wills Domain sense of style.
